π Overview
The Word Survey is a self-guided, untimed, personality-based assessment. It is used across the full employee lifecycle β from hiring to leadership development. Because the assessment has no time constraint and uses a simple forced-ranking format (ranking four words from most to least like oneself), many traditional accessibility barriers are already minimized.
However, in alignment with accessibility best practices and local legislation, accommodations may still be appropriate for some individuals. These could include offering the test in a paper format, supporting the use of screen readers, or delivering verbal instructions for those who benefit from multi-modal input.
π Standard Assessment Format
- Participants complete a series of items, each asking them to rank four descriptive words.
- There are no written responses or essay questions.
- The test includes no time limit, audio, or multimedia content.
- It is accessible by desktop and mobile devices and is compatible with screen readers.
π Available Accommodations
Accommodations may include:
- Providing a paper-based version of the assessment
- Reader-assisted administration, where a test administrator reads items aloud
- Translated instructions or use of a support person to explain the format (note: the test itself should not be reworded)
- Screen reader use or keyboard navigation for those using assistive technologies
To request a paper-based version, contact your McQuaig account representative.
π§ A Note on Neurodiversity
Because the Word Survey is a self-perception tool, neurodivergent individuals may express certain traits more strongly or weakly. These results are not inaccuracies or risks β they reflect authentic personality traits and preferences.
We encourage test administrators to interpret all results within the broader context of the individual and to ensure they are used as one part of a fair, inclusive process.
π Interpreting Results After Accommodation
Because the Word Survey is not timed and does not rely on cognitive performance, most accommodations do not significantly affect result comparability. However:
- Be aware that accommodations (e.g., verbal administration) may affect a personβs response comfort or speed, which could shape how they engage with ranking.
- Focus on themes and behavioral patterns rather than overly precise score comparisons.
- For neurodiverse individuals, consider pairing the Word Survey with direct feedback or discussion to deepen understanding.
β Important Notes
- McQuaig does not collect or store accommodation details or medical information.
- All accommodation requests must be managed by your organization.
- Ensure fairness and consistency by applying your internal accommodation policies.
